It’s 1926. Chicago. Prohibition is in full swing, and so is Stan’s Speakeasy. Behind the unassuming facade of a Bowling Club hides a place full of deception, lies, and quality moonshine – and you are invited!
Scandal at the Speakeasy, an original play written by Cromwell local, Lisa Clough, has just been announced as the Fine Thyme Theatre Company’s (FTTC) October 2020 production.
“We were very excited to have the rights for Shortland Street – The Musical, but knew that we needed more time to do it justice,” says Lisa. “That is why we’ve decided to push it out to early 2021, and put on something a little different.”
The show will take on a slightly different format from “traditional” plays but promises to be a rip-roaring romp.
“The idea behind the play is a murder mystery. But don’t worry! Audience participation is completely optional.”
Scandal at the Speakeasy calls for a wide variety of performers including singers, dancers, and actors. To this end, the FTTC is hosting a series of workshops to support prospective cast members hone their dancing, singing, and acting skills and everyone else who are curious to see if theatre is for them. Even if you’re not keen on being in the limelight, there are plenty of crucial behind-the-scenes roles that need to be filled.

Shortland Street the musical is still coming to Cromwell now in 2021!
Fine Thyme Theatre Company is thrilled to announce that we are bringing Shortland Street the musical to Cromwell. Originally planned for 2020 we have decided to move the date to 2021 due to Covid-19.
To bring this musical to life, we will need a variety of actors, singers, dancers and musicians of all types. We will also have positions available on the Production Team.
